Mandeville is a city located in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is situated on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of New Orleans. With its picturesque scenery, vibrant community, and rich history, Mandeville has become a popular destination for residents and tourists alike.

The area now known as Mandeville was originally inhabited by the indigenous Choctaw and Tchefuncte tribes. In the early 19th century, the region was settled by French and Spanish colonists. The city was officially incorporated in 1840 and named after Bernard de Marigny de Mandeville, a prominent landowner and politician.

During the Civil War, Mandeville served as a haven for refugees fleeing the conflict in New Orleans. The city's strategic location on Lake Pontchartrain made it an important transportation hub for both goods and people. After the war, Mandeville experienced a period of growth and development, attracting wealthy residents who built grand homes along the lakefront.

Mandeville is located at 30°21′56″N 90°04′21″W (30.365556, -90.072500) and has a total area of 7.7 square miles (20 square kilometers). The city is bordered by Lake Pontchartrain to the south and the Tchefuncte River to the north. The surrounding natural beauty, including the lake, river, and nearby forests, provides ample opportunities for outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, and hiking.

Fontainebleau State Park is one of the main attractions in Mandeville. This 2,800-acre park offers a variety of recreational activities, including camping, picnicking, and nature trails. The park also features a historic sugar mill and a beach area where visitors can swim and relax.

Another popular destination is the Mandeville Trailhead, located in the heart of the city. This public space serves as a gathering place for community events and festivals throughout the year. The trailhead also connects to the Tammany Trace, a 31-mile paved trail that stretches from Covington to Slidell, providing opportunities for walking, jogging, and biking.
