She served as the First Lady of the Philippines during her husband's presidency and was known for her extravagant lifestyle. After Ferdinand's death, Imelda returned to politics and served as a member of the Philippine House of Representatives.

The couple's children, Bongbong Marcos and Imee Marcos, have also been involved in politics. Bongbong has served as a senator and vice governor, while Imee has been a governor and a representative.
