== Marine Raider Regiment ==

The Marine Raider Regiment (MRR) is a special operations force of the United States Marine Corps. The regiment is a component of the Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC), which is part of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). The Marine Raider Regiment is tasked with conducting special operations missions, including direct action, special reconnaissance, and foreign internal defense.

History

The Marine Raider Regiment traces its origins to the World War II era Marine Raiders, who were elite units established to conduct amphibious light infantry warfare. The modern Marine Raider Regiment was reactivated on June 19, 2015, as part of the restructuring of MARSOC.

Organization

The Marine Raider Regiment is composed of three battalions:

• 1st Marine Raider Battalion
• 2nd Marine Raider Battalion
• 3rd Marine Raider Battalion

Each battalion is organized into several Marine Special Operations Companies (MSOCs), which are further divided into Marine Special Operations Teams (MSOTs).

Mission

The primary mission of the Marine Raider Regiment is to provide tailored special operations capabilities to support the United States Marine Corps and United States Special Operations Command. Their operations include:

• Direct Action: Short-duration strikes and other small-scale offensive actions.
• Special Reconnaissance: Surveillance and reconnaissance in hostile or denied areas.
• Foreign Internal Defense: Training and advising foreign military forces.

Training

Marine Raiders undergo rigorous training, including the Marine Special Operations School (MSOS), which encompasses the Individual Training Course (ITC). This training prepares them for the diverse and challenging missions they will face.

Marine Raiders are equipped with a variety of specialized weapons and equipment, including:

• M4 carbine
• M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle
• M40 rifle
• M203 grenade launcher
• Night vision devices

Marine Raiders have participated in numerous operations, including:
