  • Maverick County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 54,258. Its county seat is Eagle Pass. The county was created in 1856 and organized in 1871. It is named for Samuel A. Maverick, a Texas cattleman and politician.

  • Maverick County is located in the South Texas Region of the state. The county's total area is 1,279 square miles, of which 1,272 square miles is land and 7.3 square miles is water.

  • As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 54,258 people living in the county. The racial makeup of the county was 82.3% White, 0.8% Black or African American, 0.6% Native American, 0.5% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 14.0% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. 95.3% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
