Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, commonly known as Mbale Hospital, is a public general and teaching hospital located in Mbale, Eastern Uganda. It serves as the referral hospital for several districts in the region and provides healthcare services to a large number of patients from both within and outside its catchment area.

Mbale Hospital is situated on Pallisa Road in the central business district of Mbale. It is approximately 102 km southeast of Soroti Regional Referral Hospital and 144 km northeast of Jinja Regional Referral Hospital. The hospital is also located about 227 km northeast of Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.

Mbale Hospital was founded in 1924 and has since been an important healthcare institution in the region. It is affiliated with Busitema University Medical School, contributing to medical education and training in Uganda.

Facilities[edit | edit source]

The hospital has a capacity of 400 beds and provides a wide range of medical services. It operates an emergency department and offers specialized care in various fields.
