Merrilee Fullerton

Merrilee K. Fullerton is a Canadian politician and former physician who has served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario since 2018. She represents the riding of Kanata—Carleton as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario. Prior to her political career, Fullerton worked as a family physician and was involved in various healthcare initiatives.
Early life and education[edit | edit source]
Merrilee Fullerton was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. She pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Ottawa, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Following her undergraduate education, Fullerton attended the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, obtaining her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. She completed her residency in family medicine, becoming a licensed physician.
Medical career[edit | edit source]
Fullerton practiced as a family physician in the Ottawa area for over two decades. During her medical career, she was actively involved in healthcare advocacy and policy development. She served on various boards and committees, including the Ontario Medical Association and the Canadian Medical Association. Her work focused on improving healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
Political career[edit | edit source]
Fullerton entered politics with a commitment to healthcare reform and community service. She was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2018 provincial election, representing the riding of Kanata—Carleton.
Ministerial roles[edit | edit source]
Upon her election, Fullerton was appointed as the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities in the government of Premier Doug Ford. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing post-secondary education and skills training in Ontario. She later served as the Minister of Long-Term Care, where she focused on addressing challenges in the long-term care sector, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Personal life[edit | edit source]
Merrilee Fullerton is married and has three children. She is known for her dedication to her family and community. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys outdoor activities and is an advocate for environmental conservation.
