Michael Diversey was a prominent businessman and philanthropist in the 19th century. He was known for his significant contributions to the brewing industry and his philanthropic efforts in the city of Chicago.

Michael Diversey was born in the early 1800s in Europe. He immigrated to the United States in his early adulthood, settling in Chicago, Illinois.

In Chicago, Diversey partnered with William Lill, another immigrant, to establish the Lill & Diversey Brewery. The brewery quickly became one of the largest and most successful in the city, producing a significant portion of Chicago's beer supply.

Philanthropy[edit | edit source]

Diversey was also known for his philanthropic efforts. He was a major benefactor of several charitable organizations in Chicago, including the Chicago Orphan Asylum. He also donated land for the creation of Diversey Parkway, a major thoroughfare in the city.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Michael Diversey's legacy continues to be felt in Chicago today. The Lill & Diversey Brewery, although no longer in operation, played a significant role in the development of the city's brewing industry. Diversey Parkway, named in his honor, remains a major street in the city.
