Early Life and Career[edit | edit source]

Born in Jesi, Italy, Scarponi began his professional career in 2002 with the team Acqua & Sapone-Cantina Tollo. He quickly made a name for himself as a talented climber and a strong contender in stage races.

Professional Achievements[edit | edit source]

Throughout his career, Scarponi achieved several important victories. One of his most significant achievements was winning the 2011 Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's three Grand Tours, after the original winner, Alberto Contador, was stripped of his title due to a doping violation. Controversies[edit | edit source]
