Miele Guide
Miele Guide[edit | edit source]
The Miele Guide is a regional guide that was established in 2008 to celebrate and showcase the finest restaurants in Asia. The guide was created by Dr. Tan Su-Lyn and Mr. Aun Koh, who are both passionate about food and the culinary arts. The Miele Guide was named after its main sponsor, Miele, a German manufacturer of high-end domestic appliances and commercial equipment.
History[edit | edit source]
The Miele Guide was first published in 2008. It was the first regional restaurant guide in Asia that was created to recognize and honor the best restaurants in the region. The guide was published annually and covered over 20 countries in Asia.
Selection Process[edit | edit source]
The selection process for the Miele Guide was rigorous and transparent. It involved a nomination process, public voting, and anonymous dining by a team of independent food critics. The guide was unique in that it did not accept any form of sponsorship or advertising from the restaurants that were listed in it.
Impact[edit | edit source]
The Miele Guide had a significant impact on the dining scene in Asia. It helped to raise the profile of Asian cuisine and restaurants on the global stage. The guide also played a role in promoting culinary tourism in the region.
Closure[edit | edit source]
The Miele Guide ceased publication in 2013. Despite its closure, the guide has left a lasting legacy in the Asian dining scene. It has set a benchmark for restaurant guides in the region and has inspired a new generation of food critics and culinary enthusiasts.
