Miroslav Holub

Miroslav Holub (13 September 1923 – 14 July 1998) was a Czech poet and immunologist. Holub's work was heavily influenced by his experiences as an Immunologist, often featuring images from science and medicine. His work is known for its humor, irony, and accessibility.

Miroslav Holub was born on 13 September 1923 in Plzeň, at the time part of Czechoslovakia. He studied Biology at Charles University in Prague, and later specialized in Immunology.

Career[edit | edit source]

Holub worked as an Immunologist for the Czech Academy of Sciences for many years. Despite his scientific career, he is best known for his poetry. His first collection of poems was published in 1958. His work has been translated into more than 30 languages, and he has received multiple international awards for his poetry.
