Mohammad Sarwar is a prominent Pakistani politician and businessman. He has served as the Governor of Punjab, the largest province of Pakistan, from 2013 to 2015. Sarwar is a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party and has played a significant role in the party's rise to power.

Mohammad Sarwar was born on June 18, 1952, in Faisalabad, Pakistan. He hails from a middle-class family and had humble beginnings. Sarwar completed his early education in Faisalabad and later moved to Scotland for higher studies.

In Scotland, Sarwar pursued a degree in commerce from the University of Punjab. He also obtained a diploma in business administration from the University of Strathclyde. During his time in Scotland, Sarwar actively participated in politics and became a prominent figure in the Pakistani community.

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Mohammad Sarwar's political career began in the United Kingdom, where he joined the Labour Party. He became the first-ever Muslim Member of Parliament (MP) in the UK in 1997, representing the Glasgow Central constituency. Sarwar served as an MP for over a decade and played a crucial role in addressing the concerns of the Pakistani diaspora in the UK.

In 2013, Sarwar returned to Pakistan and joined the PTI. He contested the general elections and won a seat in the National Assembly. Soon after, he was appointed as the Governor of Punjab, a position he held until 2015. As the Governor, Sarwar focused on improving governance, promoting education, and addressing the issues faced by the people of Punjab.
