Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek 2

Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek is an interactive dark ride attraction located at Tokyo Disneyland. It is based on the Pixar animated film Monsters, Inc. and invites guests to participate in a hide-and-seek game with the film's characters in Monstropolis. The attraction combines elements of a traditional dark ride with interactive features, allowing guests to use flashlights to find hidden monsters throughout the ride.

Attraction Overview[edit | edit source]

The premise of Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek revolves around the idea that after the events of the movie, the city of Monstropolis has opened its doors to human visitors. Guests are given flashlights and are tasked with finding various characters from the movie who are hiding throughout the attraction. The ride vehicles, designed to resemble the door conveyors seen in the film, take guests through different scenes, each filled with hidden monsters that react when their hiding spots are illuminated by the flashlights.

Ride Experience[edit | edit source]

Upon entering the queue, guests are introduced to the concept of the game and the story setting through a series of pre-ride visuals and audio. The queue winds through a recreation of the Monsters, Inc. factory, setting the stage for the adventure ahead.

As the ride begins, guests are greeted by Mike Wazowski and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan, who explain the rules of the hide-and-seek game. The ride then moves through various scenes from the movie, including the scare floor, the locker room, and Boo's bedroom, among others. Each scene is populated with animatronic characters and interactive elements that guests can illuminate with their flashlights.

The interactive nature of the ride allows for a different experience with each visit, as guests may discover new monsters or trigger different reactions depending on where they shine their flashlights. The ride concludes with a final scene where all the monsters come together to thank the guests for playing the game, followed by a return to the loading and unloading area.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Since its opening, Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek has been praised for its innovative use of interactive technology to engage guests in the story. The attraction is often noted for its appeal to a wide range of ages, making it a family-friendly addition to Tokyo Disneyland. Its success has contributed to discussions about the potential for similar interactive attractions at other Disney parks around the world.
