The Most SNP (Bridge of the Slovak National Uprising) is a prominent bridge located in Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia. It is an iconic symbol of the city and an important part of its architectural landscape. The bridge spans across the Danube River, connecting the Old Town with the Petržalka district.

The construction of the Most SNP began in 1967 and was completed in 1972. It was designed by architects Ján Lacko, Alexander Trizuljak, and Ivan Slameň. The bridge was originally named the New Bridge (Nový most) but was later renamed to Most SNP in 1993, after the Slovak National Uprising that took place during World War II.

Design[edit | edit source]

The Most SNP is a cable-stayed bridge with a total length of 430.8 meters (1,414 feet) and a width of 21 meters (69 feet). It consists of a single pylon that stands at a height of 84.6 meters (278 feet), making it the tallest bridge pylon in Slovakia. The bridge deck is suspended from the pylon by steel cables, giving it a distinctive and modern appearance.

The Most SNP holds great historical and cultural significance for the people of Slovakia. It serves as a reminder of the country's fight for independence during the Slovak National Uprising.
