Mullingar (An Muileann gCearr in Irish) is the county town of County Westmeath in Ireland. It is located in the province of Leinster and is situated on the banks of the River Brosna. Mullingar is an important commercial and administrative center in the region.

Mullingar has a rich history dating back to ancient times. The town's name, which means "the left-handed mill," is derived from a mill that was once located on the River Brosna. The area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, and numerous archaeological finds have been discovered in the region.
