==Flexor Carpi Radialis Muscle ==
The flexor carpi radialis muscle is a muscle of the human forearm that acts to flex and abduct the hand. It is one of the muscles of the anterior compartment of the forearm.
Anatomy[edit | edit source]
The flexor carpi radialis muscle originates from the medial epicondyle of the humerus via the common flexor tendon. It runs along the forearm and inserts into the bases of the second and third metacarpal bones.
Innervation[edit | edit source]
The muscle is innervated by the median nerve, which arises from the brachial plexus.
Blood Supply[edit | edit source]
The blood supply to the flexor carpi radialis muscle is primarily provided by the radial artery.
Function[edit | edit source]
The primary function of the flexor carpi radialis muscle is to flex the wrist joint. Additionally, it assists in the abduction of the hand at the wrist.
Clinical Significance[edit | edit source]
Injuries to the flexor carpi radialis muscle can result in pain and weakness in the wrist and hand. Conditions such as tendinitis can affect this muscle, leading to discomfort and impaired function.
