NCS-382

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

NCS-382 is a compound that is used in scientific research. It acts as an antagonist for the GHB receptor, and has been used to develop a better understanding of this receptor and its role in the body.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

NCS-382 is a derivative of GHB, with an additional phenyl ring attached to the four-carbon backbone of the GHB molecule. This modification increases the potency of NCS-382 compared to its parent compound.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

NCS-382 is a potent and selective antagonist for the GHB receptor, with a Ki of 5.5nM at this target. It has been used in scientific research to help elucidate the role of the GHB receptor in the body, and to develop new drugs that can modulate this receptor for therapeutic benefit.

Research[edit | edit source]

Research has shown that NCS-382 can block the sedative and memory-impairing effects of GHB, suggesting that these effects are mediated by the GHB receptor. Other studies have shown that NCS-382 can also block the effects of GHB on the release of growth hormone, further supporting the role of the GHB receptor in mediating the effects of this drug.
