NC Medical College and Hospital Panipat

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

NC Medical College and Hospital is a medical institute located in Panipat, Haryana, India. It was the first COVID-19 hospital in the city and served as an isolation ward with 60 beds. The hospital has a total of 300 beds and also houses a blood bank. In 2019, it received permission to admit students for the MBBS program. The institute has organized Continuing Medical Education (CME) training sessions.

The college has faced controversy, with the Supreme Court of India ordering the Medical Council of India (MCI) to conduct surprise inspections following multiple complaints. An MCI report in 2016 alleged a severe lack of faculty and residents, with occupancy of beds at only 1%. The college disputed these claims, stating that it had full faculty and resident strength, with bed occupancy above 60%. An independent investigation by Hindustan Times found occupancy between 10% and 20% and reported the overall condition of the college to be satisfactory.
