The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) is a peer-reviewed medical journal published by the Massachusetts Medical Society. It is among the most prestigious and widely read medical journals in the world. The NEJM publishes new medical research findings, review articles, and editorial opinion on a wide variety of topics of importance to biomedical science and clinical practice.

The NEJM was founded in 1812 by John Collins Warren and James Jackson, both of whom were prominent physicians in Boston. The journal was originally titled the New England Journal of Medicine and Surgery and the Collateral Branches of Science. In 1928, it was renamed to its current title.
