Nakumatt

Nakumatt is a supermarket chain in Kenya. It was established in 1987 and has since grown to become one of the largest retail chains in the country. The name "Nakumatt" is a combination of the founder's name, "Nakuru Mattresses".

Nakumatt was founded by Atul Shah in 1987. The first store was located in Nakuru, Kenya. Over the years, the company expanded its operations across the country and into neighboring countries such as Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania.

Nakumatt operates a chain of supermarkets across Kenya. The stores offer a wide range of products including groceries, household goods, clothing, and electronics. The company is known for its customer service and wide product range.

Financial Crisis and Administration[edit | edit source]

In 2017, Nakumatt faced a severe financial crisis that led to the closure of several stores. The company was placed under administration in order to facilitate its recovery.

Since being placed under administration, Nakumatt has been working on a recovery plan. The company has been restructuring its operations and focusing on profitable stores. The future plans of the company include expanding its product range and improving customer service.
