The National Cancer Institute, also known as the Maharagama Cancer Hospital, is a government hospital located in Maharagama, Sri Lanka. It is the main hospital dedicated to treating cancer in the country and is under the control of the Ministry of Health. The hospital provides all its services free of charge. In 2016, the hospital opened a Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) unit, which cost approximately Rs. 1.2 billion. Sri Lanka currently has over 50,000 cancer patients, with an annual death toll of 14,000 patients.
