National Coney Island was founded by James Giftos in 1965. The first restaurant was located in the Macomb Mall in Roseville, Michigan. The chain has since expanded to include 20 locations throughout the Metro Detroit area.

The menu at National Coney Island includes a variety of items, including their signature Coney dogs, Greek salads, and Hani sandwiches.
