Nestlé Purina

Nestlé Purina Petcare is a subsidiary of Nestlé that produces and markets pet food, treats, and litter. The company was formed in 2001 by combining Nestlé's Friskies Petcare Company with Ralston Purina Company.

The Ralston Purina Company was founded in 1894 by William H. Danforth. The company initially produced animal feed and expanded into pet food in the 1920s. In 2001, Nestlé acquired Ralston Purina and merged it with its own pet food business, Friskies Petcare Company, to form Nestlé Purina Petcare.

Nestlé Purina Petcare produces a wide range of products for dogs and cats. These include dry and wet food, treats, and litter. Some of the company's most popular brands include Purina ONE, Purina Pro Plan, Purina Dog Chow, Purina Cat Chow, Fancy Feast, and Tidy Cats.

Nestlé Purina Petcare is committed to sustainability and has implemented a number of initiatives to reduce its environmental impact. These include reducing water use, minimizing waste, and sourcing ingredients responsibly.

Controversies[edit | edit source]

Nestlé Purina Petcare has faced several controversies over the years, including lawsuits related to the safety of its products. In 2013, the company was sued over allegations that one of its dog food brands contained harmful ingredients. Nestlé Purina Petcare denied the allegations and the lawsuit was eventually dismissed.
