Named after Singaporean real estate tycoon Ng Teng Fong, the hospital is part of the Jurong Health Services network, which is a member of the National University Health System (NUHS). The hospital was officially opened in 2015, aiming to provide comprehensive medical services to the western region of Singapore.
History[edit | edit source]
The proposal for Ng Teng Fong General Hospital was announced in 2008 as part of Singapore's efforts to expand its healthcare infrastructure. The hospital is named after the late Ng Teng Fong, the founder of Far East Organization, who donated significantly to the healthcare sector in Singapore. Construction began in 2011, and the hospital was initially slated to open in December 2014. However, due to construction delays, the opening was postponed to June 2015.
Facilities and Services[edit | edit source]
Ng Teng Fong General Hospital is designed with a focus on patient-centric care. The hospital has a capacity of 700 beds and is integrated with the Jurong Community Hospital to facilitate a seamless transition for patients requiring step-down care. This integration is part of Singapore's strategy to provide a comprehensive range of healthcare services, from acute to rehabilitative care, within a single locality.
The hospital boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including emergency services, specialist outpatient clinics, and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services. It is designed to maximize natural ventilation and lighting, contributing to a healing environment for patients. The wards are configured in a modular manner, allowing for flexibility in managing patient volumes and enhancing infection control measures.

It has received awards for its environmentally sustainable design, which incorporates green spaces and eco-friendly features.
