Nicola Ann Raphael (10 September 1985 – 24 June 2001) was a Scottish teenager from Lenzie, East Dunbartonshire, whose suicide sparked a national conversation about bullying, mental health, and the pressures faced by young people. Her death highlighted the severe impact of school bullying and led to calls for more effective anti-bullying strategies within schools.

Nicola was born to Rona and David Raphael in Glasgow, Scotland. She attended Lenzie Academy, where she was known for her gothic fashion sense, which made her a target for bullies. Nicola's interests included music, art, and writing, and she was described by those who knew her as a sensitive and creative individual.

Throughout her time at Lenzie Academy, Nicola faced persistent bullying due to her appearance and interests. Despite her parents' efforts to address the issue with the school, the bullying continued.
