Plot[edit | edit source]

Norbit Albert Rice, a mild-mannered and meek individual, grows up in an orphanage/Chinese restaurant run by Mr. Wong. He falls in love with his childhood sweetheart, Kate Thomas, but they are separated when Kate is adopted. As an adult, Norbit is forced into marrying Rasputia, a morbidly obese and overbearing woman who dominates every aspect of his life. Despite his unhappy marriage, Norbit's feelings for Kate reignite when she returns to town to buy the orphanage. The film follows Norbit's attempts to reconnect with Kate and stand up to Rasputia and her three thuggish brothers, who run a construction company that is more like a front for extortion and racketeering.
