OG is a professional esports organization based in Europe. Founded in 2015, it is best known for its Dota 2 team, which has won the The International (TI), the most prestigious tournament in the game, an unprecedented two times in a row, in 2018 and 2019. The organization has also expanded into other games, including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) and Valorant.

History[edit | edit source]

OG was established in 2015 by players Johan "N0tail" Sundstein and Tal "Fly" Aizik, who were former teammates on Team Secret. The team quickly made a name for itself in the Dota 2 scene by winning the Frankfurt Major in November 2015, shortly after its formation. This victory was followed by wins at the Manila Major and the Boston Major, making OG the first team in Dota 2 history to win four Dota Major Championships.

In 2018, OG achieved what many considered to be the pinnacle of esports success by winning The International 2018. Despite entering the tournament as underdogs, OG defied expectations and clinched the title, taking home over $11 million in prize money. The team's journey through the tournament was later documented in the episodic series "True Sight" by Valve Corporation.

In 2019, OG made history again by winning The International 2019, becoming the first team to win the tournament twice and the first to do so consecutively. This victory solidified their status as one of the greatest Dota 2 teams of all time.

Beyond Dota 2, OG has ventured into other competitive games. In 2020, the organization announced its expansion into CS:GO, acquiring a roster to compete in international tournaments. Similarly, in 2021, OG entered the Valorant scene by forming a team to participate in the burgeoning competitive circuit for the game.
