  • Owsley Stanley (1935–2011), an American audio engineer and chemist, known for his role in the counterculture of the 1960s. Stanley was a key figure in the San Francisco Bay Area hippie movement during the 1960s and played a pivotal role in the decade's counterculture. He was also known for his work as a sound engineer, including his involvement with the Grateful Dead.
  • William Owsley (politician) (1782–1862), an American politician who served as the 16th Governor of Kentucky from 1844 to 1848. Owsley was a member of the Whig Party and was known for his opposition to the annexation of Texas.
