Paddy Considine (born 5 September 1973) is an English actor, director, screenwriter, and musician. He is known for his versatility and intense performances in both independent and mainstream films. Considine has received critical acclaim for his work in various genres, including drama, thriller, and comedy.

Paddy Considine was born in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, England. He grew up in a working-class family and attended Abbot Beyne School. Considine later studied at Burton College before enrolling at the University of Brighton, where he earned a degree in photography.

Considine made his film debut in 1999 with a role in A Room for Romeo Brass, directed by Shane Meadows. His performance garnered attention and led to further collaborations with Meadows, including the critically acclaimed film Dead Man's Shoes (2004), in which Considine co-wrote and starred.

He has appeared in numerous films, such as In America (2002), My Summer of Love (2004), Cinderella Man (2005), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007). Considine's portrayal of Richard Henshall in Dead Man's Shoes is often cited as one of his most powerful performances.

Directing and Screenwriting[edit | edit source]

In addition to acting, Considine has made a name for himself as a director and screenwriter. His directorial debut, Tyrannosaur (2011), received widespread acclaim and won several awards, including a BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer. The film stars Peter Mullan and Olivia Colman and deals with themes of violence and redemption.

Considine also directed and wrote the film Journeyman (2017), in which he starred as a boxer dealing with the aftermath of a traumatic brain injury.

Apart from his work in film, Considine is also a musician. He is a member of the band Riding the Low, where he serves as the lead vocalist and guitarist. The band has released several albums and continues to perform live.

Considine is married to Shelley Insley, and the couple has three children. He has been open about his struggles with Asperger syndrome, which he was diagnosed with later in life.
