Patuakhali

Patuakhali is a district in the south-western part of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Barisal Division and the administrative capital is the town of Patuakhali. The district is known for its access to the Bay of Bengal and the Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove forest.

Patuakhali is located at 22.36°N 90.32°E. It has a total area of 3221.31 km². The district is bordered by the Barisal District to the north, the Barguna District to the south, the Bhola District and Tetulia River to the east, and the Bay of Bengal to the west.

The district of Patuakhali was established in 1969. It has a rich history dating back to the ancient times, with archaeological evidence suggesting that the area was inhabited as early as the Gupta Empire.
