Peking University International Hospital is a non-profit hospital affiliated with Peking University in Beijing, China. It was opened on December 5, 2014, and is designed to provide medical services in line with international practices. The hospital offers healthcare services to patients covered by Beijing social medical insurance, commercial insurance, public medicare, and foreign insurances. With an overall investment of 3.2 billion, the hospital has a building area of 310,000 square meters, making it the largest single medical building in Asia.
The hospital is located in the Zhongguancun Life Science Park and is a combination of medicare, teaching, and research. It positions itself as a general hospital centering on several dominant disciplines based on the subject specialties of Peking University. It has 36 medical centers and 49 medical disciplines, focusing on cardiovascular, neoplasms/blood, ophthalmology, women and children's care, neuroscience, urology, and renal disease departments.
The hospital building was designed through a competition, and the winning design by Perkins Eastman features a 280,000 square meter, 12-story hospital on a 3-hectare parcel of land. The design incorporates a circular ambulatory care and cancer center building within a landscaped square, providing organization and distinct appearances for different program elements. The hospital aims to have 2,000 beds, an ambulatory care center for 10,000 outpatients daily, and a large emergency department with specialized services for cardiovascular, oncology, women's and children's care, and a conference center.
