Penn Valley, Pennsylvania is a small, unincorporated community located within Lower Merion Township, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southeastern part of the state, near the city of Philadelphia.

Penn Valley is characterized by its rolling hills and lush greenery, which contribute to its suburban charm. The community is primarily residential, with a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments. It is bordered by the communities of Narberth, Merion, and Gladwyne.

The area now known as Penn Valley was originally inhabited by the Lenape Native Americans. European settlers, primarily from Wales and England, began arriving in the 17th century. The community's name is derived from William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania.

Education[edit | edit source]

Penn Valley is served by the Lower Merion School District. The district operates two elementary schools in the community: Penn Valley Elementary School and Welsh Valley Middle School. High school students attend Lower Merion High School or Harriton High School.

Transportation[edit | edit source]

Penn Valley is accessible via several major roads, including Interstate 76 and U.S. Route 30. The community is also served by the SEPTA regional rail system, with the nearest station located in Narberth.

Several notable individuals have resided in Penn Valley, including Noam Chomsky, a renowned linguist and political activist, and Ezra Pound, a prominent poet and critic.
