The Perpendicular Plate of Ethmoid Bone is a thin, flattened structure that forms part of the Ethmoid bone in the human skull. It contributes to the formation of the nasal septum, which divides the nasal cavity into two halves.

The Perpendicular Plate of Ethmoid Bone is a thin, quadrilateral plate of bone that descends from the under surface of the ethmoid bone and contributes to the nasal septum. It is bordered by the cribriform plate superiorly and the vomer inferiorly.

The primary function of the Perpendicular Plate of Ethmoid Bone is to contribute to the formation of the nasal septum, which divides the nasal cavity into two halves. This division aids in the process of respiration and olfaction.

Clinical Significance[edit | edit source]

Damage to the Perpendicular Plate of Ethmoid Bone can result in a deviated nasal septum, which can cause breathing difficulties and other complications.
