Persuasion (1995 film)
Persuasion is a 1995 British period drama film directed by Roger Michell and based on Jane Austen's 1817 novel of the same name. The screenplay was written by Nick Dear, and the film stars Amanda Root and Ciarán Hinds.

The film follows the story of Anne Elliot, a young woman who is persuaded to break off her engagement to Frederick Wentworth, a naval officer, due to his lack of fortune. Eight years later, Wentworth returns from the Napoleonic Wars as a wealthy and successful captain. The story explores themes of love, regret, and second chances as Anne and Wentworth navigate their feelings for each other amidst societal pressures and family dynamics.
