Pharmaniaga was established in 1994 as a result of a strategic merger between UPA Corporation and Pharmaceutical Services. The company was listed on the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in 1999.

Pharmaniaga operates in two main segments: logistics and distribution, and manufacturing. The logistics and distribution segment provides warehousing, distribution, and other value-added services to the healthcare sector. The manufacturing segment produces a wide range of generic pharmaceuticals in various dosage forms, including tablets, capsules, syrup, cream, ointment, and injectables.
