The Pierre Fauchard Academy was founded in 1936 by Dr. Elmer S. Best, a prominent dentist from Minnesota, United States. Dr. Best envisioned an organization that would honor dentists who had made significant contributions to the field and promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge among dental professionals worldwide.

The mission of the Pierre Fauchard Academy is to recognize and develop outstanding leadership in the dental profession internationally. The Academy's objectives include:

The Academy has over 8,000 Fellows in more than 60 countries.
