Under Olmsted's guidance, Pinehurst was transformed into a beautiful and well-planned community.
One of the main attractions of Pinehurst is its golf courses. The first golf course, Pinehurst No. 1, was designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1898. Since then, Pinehurst has become synonymous with golf, hosting numerous prestigious tournaments, including the U.S. Open and the U.S. Women's Open.
