Platte County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2010 census, the population was 8,667. Its county seat is Wheatland. The county was created February 21, 1911, with land detached from Laramie County and organized in 1913. It is named for the North Platte River, which flows through the northeastern part of the county.

Geography

Platte County spans 2,111 square miles, with a diverse landscape that includes the Laramie Mountains in the west and the High Plains in the east. The North Platte River flows through the county, providing vital water resources for agriculture and wildlife.
