Plaza de Toros de los Califas

History[edit | edit source]
The Plaza de Toros de los Califas was inaugurated on May 9, 1965. The construction of the bullring was initiated to replace the older bullring in Córdoba, which had become inadequate for the growing popularity of bullfighting in the city. The new bullring was designed to accommodate a larger audience and provide better facilities for both the spectators and the bullfighters.
Architecture[edit | edit source]
The bullring is known for its distinctive architectural style, which combines traditional Andalusian elements with modern design. The structure is built primarily from concrete and features a circular arena with a diameter of 50 meters. The seating capacity of the Plaza de Toros de los Califas is approximately 17,000, making it one of the largest bullrings in Spain.
Events[edit | edit source]
The Plaza de Toros de los Califas hosts numerous bullfighting events throughout the year, with the most notable being the annual Feria de Córdoba. This event attracts some of the most famous toreros (bullfighters) from around the world and is a major highlight of the city's cultural calendar. In addition to bullfighting, the bullring is also used for concerts, festivals, and other public events.
