- Polk County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2010 census, the population was 44,205. Its county seat is Balsam Lake. The county was created in 1853.
Geography[edit | edit source]
- Polk County covers an area of 956 square miles, of which 917 square miles is land and 39 square miles is water. It is bordered by Burnett County to the north, Barron County to the east, St. Croix County to the south, and the state of Minnesota to the west.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
- As of the 2010 census, there were 44,205 people, 17,676 households, and 12,066 families residing in the county. The population density was 48 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was 97.2% White, 0.3% Black or African American, 0.6% Native American, 0.5% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.4% from other races, and 1.0% from two or more races. 1.3% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
