Powell County is a county located in the U.S. state of Montana. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 7,027. Its county seat is Deer Lodge. The county was founded in 1901.

Powell County is located in the west-central part of Montana. It has a total area of 2,333 square miles (6,040 km2), of which 2,326 square miles (6,020 km2) is land and 7.1 square miles (18 km2) (0.3%) is water.
