In the context of psychology, presence is often associated with mindfulness, a state of active, open attention to the present. This state is described as observing one's thoughts and feelings without judging them as good or bad.

In philosophy, presence has been discussed in relation to phenomenology and the philosophy of Martin Heidegger. Heidegger used the term "Being-in-the-world" to describe the experience of presence, suggesting that our existence is fundamentally tied to our surroundings and that we are always "in" the world, not separate from it.

In spirituality, presence is often associated with a sense of peace and tranquility, and is considered a key aspect of many spiritual practices, including meditation and prayer.
