Princess Antoinette of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (14 April 1696 – 6 March 1762) was a German princess of the House of Welf and by marriage Duchess of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. She was born in Wolfenbüttel, a town in the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg.

Family[edit | edit source]

Antoinette was the daughter of Louis Rudolph, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg and Princess Christine Louise of Oettingen-Oettingen. She was a member of the House of Welf, one of the oldest and most prominent noble families in Europe.

Marriage and Issue[edit | edit source]

On 15 October 1712, Antoinette married Duke Ferdinand Albert II of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. The couple had several children, including:

Princess Antoinette spent her later years in Braunschweig, where she was involved in various charitable activities and the promotion of the arts. She passed away on 6 March 1762.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Antoinette's descendants played significant roles in European history, with her son Charles I, Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel becoming a notable ruler and her daughter Duchess Elisabeth Christine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel-Bevern marrying Frederick the Great of Prussia.
