Process is a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end. In different contexts, a process might refer to a scientific process, a business process, or a manufacturing process.

A process is a set of interrelated or interacting activities that transforms inputs into outputs. These activities require allocation of resources such as people and materials.

Types of Processes[edit | edit source]

There are several types of processes, each with its own set of characteristics and applications.

Scientific Process[edit | edit source]

The scientific process or scientific method is a series of steps followed by scientific investigators to answer specific questions about the natural world. It involves careful observation, applying rigorous skepticism about what is observed, given that cognitive assumptions can distort how one interprets the observation.

Business Process[edit | edit source]

A business process is a collection of linked tasks which find their end in the delivery of a service or product to a client. It has also been defined as a set of activities and tasks that, once completed, will accomplish an organizational goal.

Manufacturing Process[edit | edit source]

A manufacturing process is the process of converting raw materials into finished goods. It includes various stages like procurement of raw materials, processing of raw materials, processing of finished goods, and finally the consumption of finished goods.

Process Management[edit | edit source]

Process management is a concept that integrates quality/performance excellence into the strategic management of organizations. It is category of techniques for purchasing, marketing, human resources, and other forms of management activities.
