Quality Food Centers (QFC) is a supermarket chain based in Bellevue, Washington. It is a subsidiary of Kroger, one of the largest grocery retailers in the United States. QFC operates primarily in the Pacific Northwest, with a focus on providing high-quality food products and exceptional customer service.

History[edit | edit source]

QFC was founded in 1955 by Jack Croco in Seattle, Washington. The first store was located in the University District of Seattle. Over the years, QFC expanded its presence throughout the Puget Sound region, becoming known for its commitment to quality and community involvement.

In 1997, QFC was acquired by Fred Meyer, Inc., which was subsequently acquired by Kroger in 1998. This acquisition allowed QFC to benefit from Kroger's extensive resources and distribution network, while maintaining its local identity and focus on quality.

Community Involvement[edit | edit source]

QFC is actively involved in the communities it serves. The company supports local food banks, schools, and charitable organizations through donations and volunteer efforts. QFC also participates in Kroger's "Zero Hunger | Zero Waste" initiative, which aims to end hunger in the communities it serves and eliminate waste across the company by 2025.
