Qujing (Chinese: 曲靖市; pinyin: Qūjìng Shì ) is a prefecture-level city located in the eastern part of Yunnan Province, China. It is the second-largest city in Yunnan by population and serves as a significant economic and cultural hub in the region.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Qujing is situated in the eastern part of Yunnan Province, bordering Guizhou Province to the east and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to the southeast. The city covers an area of approximately 28,904 square kilometers. The terrain is predominantly mountainous, with the Wumeng Mountains running through the area, contributing to its diverse topography and rich natural resources.

Qujing has a long and storied history, with human habitation dating back to ancient times. It was an important location during the Han Dynasty and served as a strategic military and trade center. The city has been known for its role in the Tea Horse Road, an ancient trade route that facilitated the exchange of tea and horses between China and other regions.
