RTI-352

0RTI-352 is a tropane derivative drug that is used in scientific research. It is a potent and selective dopamine reuptake inhibitor (DRI), which makes it a useful tool in the study of the dopamine system. RTI-352 is part of the RTI-31 series of compounds, which are known for their high potency and selectivity for the dopamine transporter.
History[edit]
RTI-352 was first synthesized by the Research Triangle Institute (RTI), hence its name. The institute has been involved in the development of numerous tropane derivative drugs, with the aim of better understanding the role of the dopamine system in various neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Pharmacology[edit]
As a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, RTI-352 works by blocking the dopamine transporter (DAT). This prevents the reuptake of dopamine into the presynaptic neuron, leading to an increase in the extracellular concentration of dopamine. This can result in increased dopamine activity, which can have various effects depending on the specific brain region involved.
Research Uses[edit]
RTI-352 is primarily used in scientific research. Its high potency and selectivity for the dopamine transporter make it a valuable tool for studying the dopamine system. It can be used to investigate the role of dopamine in various processes, such as reward, motivation, and motor control. It can also be used to study the effects of dopamine dysregulation in various disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, and drug addiction.
