Radically is a term often used in various fields such as mathematics, chemistry, and philosophy. It generally refers to the fundamental or root cause of a phenomenon or the extreme change from the traditional or usual method or form.

Mathematics[edit | edit source]

In mathematics, the term radically is often associated with the concept of radical expressions. A radical expression is an expression that contains a square root, cube root, or any other 'n'th root. The term 'radically' in this context refers to the process of simplifying or solving these radical expressions.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

In chemistry, a radical is an atom, molecule, or ion that has unpaired valence electrons. With some exceptions, these unpaired electrons make radicals highly chemically reactive. Many radicals spontaneously dimerize. Most organic radicals have short lifetimes. The term 'radically' in this context refers to the process or reaction involving these radicals.

Philosophy[edit | edit source]

In philosophy, to think or act 'radically' means to address or change the fundamental nature of something, rather than merely addressing its surface or symptoms. This can be applied to various philosophical theories and ideologies that aim to change the basic structure of a society, belief system, or another area of human life and thought.
