Ranbaxy Laboratories
Ranbaxy Laboratories is an Indian multinational pharmaceutical company that was incorporated in 1961. It is a subsidiary of the Japanese pharmaceutical company Daiichi Sankyo, who acquired it in 2008. Ranbaxy Laboratories was once the largest pharmaceutical company in India.
History[edit]
Ranbaxy was established by Bhai Mohan Singh in 1961. The company was named after its two original investors, Ranjit Singh and Gurbax Singh. In 1998, Ranbaxy entered the United States, the world's largest pharmaceutical market. In 2008, Daiichi Sankyo, a Japanese pharmaceutical company, acquired a controlling share in Ranbaxy.
Products[edit]
Ranbaxy Laboratories produces a wide range of pharmaceutical products, including branded drugs, generic drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and active pharmaceutical ingredients. The company's product portfolio includes treatments for a variety of medical conditions, such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory disorders, and infectious diseases.
Controversies[edit]
Ranbaxy has been involved in several controversies, including allegations of drug adulteration and fraud. In 2013, the company pleaded guilty to charges of selling adulterated drugs in the United States and agreed to pay a $500 million fine.
