Political Career[edit | edit source]

Bliss began his political career in Ohio, where he played a significant role in local and state politics. He was known for his organizational skills and his ability to build strong party infrastructure. His success in Ohio politics eventually led to his role on the national stage.

In 1965, following the landslide defeat of Republican candidate Barry Goldwater in the 1964 presidential election, Bliss was appointed as the chairman of the RNC. His main task was to rebuild the party, which was demoralized and financially strained.
