Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (born 26 February 1954) is a Turkish politician serving as the President of Turkey since 2014. He previously served as Prime Minister of Turkey from 2003 to 2014 and as Mayor of Istanbul from 1994 to 1998. Erdoğan is a founding member of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), which he led from 2001 to 2014 and again from 2017 to 2023.

Erdoğan was born in the Kasımpaşa neighborhood of Istanbul, Turkey. He attended an imam hatip school, a type of religious vocational high school, and later studied at Marmara University, where he graduated with a degree in Economics.

Mayor of Istanbul[edit | edit source]
Erdoğan was elected as the Mayor of Istanbul in 1994. During his tenure, he implemented several infrastructure projects and improved the city's water and waste management systems.

In 2003, Erdoğan became the Prime Minister of Turkey. His government implemented numerous reforms, including economic policies that led to significant growth. He also pursued a policy of "zero problems with neighbors," aiming to improve Turkey's relations with its neighboring countries.
